Painting Adventure #1
Saturday 9:30-11:30 am or Wednesday 7 - 9 pm

Suitable for beginning and intermediate painters. You will learn how to improve your painting, whatever your current level of expertise.

We will cover practical techniques, and various perspectives and questions about making paintings and art. Some of the topics we'll cover:

1. How to paint. How to paint better. Techniques: mixing colors, how to use materials involved, choosing quality of materials. How to make an accurate representation of 3-D reality on your 2-D canvas.
2. How to use different types of paint (oils, acrylic, watercolor, gouache)
3. How do you judge a painting? How do you determine if the artist is skilled or not? Is there such a thing as innate talent?
4. What makes a great painting?
5. What are all the different styles (genres) of painting? How are artists influenced by them?
6. What are the elements and principles of design? What is positive and negative space? What is composition?
7. What is the difference between this class and one of those "drink and paint" groups? :-)
